Routine maintenance is more important than you think.

Nobody likes having to have routine maintenance done and we understand that but bypassing your oils changes and routine maintenance could end up costing you more than you think.  Did you know that vehicles that have the manufacturers recommended maintenance performed last longer than vehicles that don't and with fewer expenses too.  The cost of an oil change is far cheaper than having to replace your engine one day.  Without routine oil changes you  can cause sludge buildup in the ring grooves and all over the inside of the engine. It can cause excessive piston ring wear, excessive wear to the rod and main bearings, pitting and wear to the cam and lifters and in general premature failure of the engine. For your Honda it is recommended that you change your oil every 5,000 miles. Tire rotation is another thing people often overlook.  Tires are not cheap and with regular rotation you can extend the life of your tires. The guide line for tire rotations is 10K miles or every other oil change.  Your front and rear tires wear differently from the different amount of weight and type of front/rear wheel drive of your car.  This wear could also be a safety concern as you might not get the proper grip of the road in certain driving conditions with uneven wear.  The big Honda maintenance is the timing belt/water pump replacement.  The timing belt is vital to your car if it were to break while you are driving you would be causing a great deal of damage to your engine.  Warped head gaskets are not a cheap repair.  Manufactures recommend certain repairs to help you get the most life out of your car.  Honda has a great reputation for reliability and with good routine maintenance you will get a lifetime of love from your Honda.  Next time you are here at Hendrick Honda of Charleston for your routine maintenance check out our 100K mile club photos posted along the wall, maybe yours will be up there one day too.
