Car theft tips.
Another thing people do is buy one of those hide-a-key boxes that stick like a magnet to your car. Thieves know all the hiding places so don't think they won't find your hidden key.
Dark places are also a car thief's favorite place. When you can choose a well lit place to park.
When parking in a city lot or other type of parking garage try to find one that has an attendant on the premises. Thieves usually go to parking areas that are unattended.
Valet parking is a nice luxury but be leery here too. In the end you are giving your keys over to a complete stranger who may be tempted to not steal your car but also any valuables you may have in your car.
We know you know this but people do it everyday-keep valuables out of sight. Thieves won't be tempted if they cannot see it.
Write your name on the owner's manual, place a business card in a few places anything that can identify you. That way when your car is found your contact information is in it.
Most car theft tips are common sense but we all slip up here and there thinking we would never be the victim of car theft. Prevention is the best defense.
